A masterpiece by Raphael
"The School of Athens" is a fresco by the Italian High Renaissance artist Raphael. It was painted between 1509 and 1511 as part of Raphael's commission to decorate the rooms in the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican. The fresco depicts a gathering of the greatest minds of classical antiquity, including Plato, Aristotle, and many other philosophers, mathematicians, and scientists. It is considered one of the most perfect examples of High Renaissance painting, embodying the ideals of clarity, harmony, and grandeur.
