The Last Supper

Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper

"The Last Supper" is a late 15th-century mural painting by Leonardo da Vinci, located in the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy. It is one of the world's most famous paintings, depicting the scene of the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples, as it is told in the Gospel of John 13:21.

Leonardo's painting captures the moment after Jesus announced that one of his twelve apostles would betray him. The expressive reactions and gestures of the apostles are rendered with incredible psychological depth, a hallmark of Leonardo's genius. The composition is masterfully arranged, with Jesus at the center, creating a sense of divine calm amidst the human turmoil.
